Prospect in the Spotlight (Mar 21-22): Harry Hardwick

Introduction

Friday, March 21st, English featherweight prospect Harry Hardwick will be in action for Cage Warriors, where he will be looking continue his winning ways against Javier Garcia. He will be looking for another win, as Hardwick looks to inch closer to a UFC contract. He represents Middlesborough Fight Academy, a smaller camp in MMA. Let’s take a closer look at this prospect as this week’s “Prospect Spotlight.”

Strengths

Hands: Like his brother George, a fellow prospect, Harry is known for having strong boxing skills that combine excellent volume, movement, aggression, power and accuracy when he throws hands. Just three of his wins come by way of knockout, but he scores points with ease. He mixes to the body and head well, which is why he’s effective and can cause damage. He really put it all together in his most recent fight, when he downed fellow prospect Keweny Lopes with punches in the fourth round.

Toughness: Also like his brother, Hardwick is known for his physical toughness and determination in the cage. He is mentally and physically strong, which is why he’s never out of a fight and a tough opponent to share the cage with. It’s also why he trusts himself getting into fire fights, as he knows his chin will hold up.

Needs Improvement

Counter-Wrestler: Hardwick has had a limited sample size when it comes to taking on above average wrestlers, but in his losses, we have seen him get taken down and outwrestled. In his losses, he has not taken on guys who are the caliber of wrestler that he will see in the major leagues. That will need to be addressed before getting the call to the UFC.

Outlook

UFC Bonus Collector/Midcarder: Like his brother George, Harry has a future in the UFC as a guy that will stick with the company for a while and be a fan favorite for his style. Both Harry and George are both cut from the same cloth, which is head down and fight. Dana White loves that type of style and will keep these guys around to anchor cards with exciting fights. He first has to defend his belt against Javier Garcia, a solid opponent. It won’t test his wrestling like will be seen in the UFC, but it will be a barn burner.
