Prospect in the Spotlight (May 23-24): Marko Bojkovic

Introduction

Saturday, May 24th, Serbian lightweight prospect Marko Bojkovic will be in action for FNC, where he will be looking continue his winning ways against Milos Janicic. He will be looking for another win, as Bojkovic looks to inch closer to a UFC contract. He represents Ahilej Fighting Academy, a smaller camp in MMA. Let’s take a closer look at this prospect as this week’s “Prospect Spotlight.”

Strengths

Power Striking: Whether it’s on the feet or on the mat, Bojkovic has insane striking and stopping power. He does have a couple ground-and-pound finishes between pro and amateur, but his on-the-feet prowess is fun to watch. His most recent fight saw him destroy Sahil Siraj with a one-punch knockout. He also blasted Mauro Paixao with a highlight-reel flying knee. His four knockout stoppage as a pro have all been fearsome.

Offensive Grappling: Though we don’t see it as much as his brutal striking, Bojkovic has a strong offensive grappling game complete with solid cage clinch, wrestling and heavy top pressure. He has a couple wins by submission, which compliments his nasty ground-and-pound. Bojkovic is the definition of a mixed martial artist with how well-rounded he is.

Needs Improvement

TBD: It’s still to be decided on what Bojkovic’s weaknesses are. He has looked unbelievable in his pro career and not really had to crush any cans to do it. He’s fought two undefeated fighters early in his pro career, and since May of 2023, hasn’t fought a fighter with less than 12 pro fights and winning records. That’s wild.

Outlook

Sky is the Limit…UFC Top 20: At just 23 years old, Bojkovic looks to be a true, blue-chip prospect in MMA. The guy is a finishing machine, has been taking on solid opponents throughout his early pro career and has looked like an absolute juggernaut. In 5-6 years, this guy is going to be a problem at the highest level of the sport. The UFC needs to immediately look into getting this guy onto the roster, whether it’s a 2025 Contender Series invite or straight to the roster. If they build him up properly, he has a chance at being a potential title contender. At the very least, I think he cracks the top-20 in the 155-pound division.
