Introduction
Friday, December 5th, Turkish middleweight prospect Dzhabir Dzhabrailov will be in action for ONE Championship, where he will be looking continue his winning ways against Isi Fitikefu. He will be looking for another win, as Dzhabrailov looks to score a ONE title shot. He represents Lions MMA Club, a smaller camp in MMA. Let’s take a closer look at this prospect as this week’s “Prospect Spotlight.”
Strengths
Wrestling/Top Game: Dzhabrailov is a ferocious wrestler who comes out of the gate hunting for the takedown. He’s highly efficient at it, and even is known for big slams when going for the takedown. He even has a slam knockout on this record, where he tried plowing his opponent through the mat and threw heavy hammers until the ref stepped in. On top, he’s extremely aggressive and violent, throwing massive ground-and-pound that often is the source of his stoppages as well. He does have submission ability, but he prefers to throw hammers, which makes his game exciting.
Needs Improvement
Small Sample Size/Weak Competition: Dzhabrailov has just six pro fights so far in his career, and thus far, he has not really taken on any world-beating competition. His biggest step up was his most recent fight against Nicolas Vigna, who matched up unfavorably against a guy with the style of Dzhabrailov. He will get a major step up in competition in his current fight against Isi Fitikefu, so we will get a better judgement on where he’s at.
Outlook
Eventual Contender: At just 20 years old, Dzhabrailov is a true blue-chip prospect. He’s already this terrifying as a fighter in terms of his toughness and skill, and he he’s obviously only going to get better. Imagine him when he’s in his mid-to-late 20s. He’s going to be a major force in the middleweight division, but he’ll likely have to find a bigger pond outside ONE Championship to really showcase his skill.
