Prospect in the Spotlight (Jan 23-24): Alina Dalaslan

Introduction

Saturday, January 31st, German bantamweight prospect Alina Dalaslan will be in action for Oktagon MMA, where she will be looking continue her winning ways against Karolina Sobek. She will be looking for another win, as Dalaslan looks to inch closer to a UFC contract. She represents Planet Eater, a solid camp in MMA. Let’s take a closer look at this prospect as this week’s “Prospect Spotlight.”

Strengths

Striking: Possessing a kickboxing background, Dalaslan really shows her striking skills off in the cage well. She uses all of her tools well, whether it’s the punches, kicks, elbows or knees. She moves well and lands in volume, which aids her in looking for the finish. As a pro, she’s won three of her four wins by knockout, including by spinning back elbow and knees. She can be flashy at times, but her fundamentals really are a difference maker on the feet.

Strength of Schedule: For a fighter with four pro fights, Dalaslan has had a solid strength of schedule so far. In addition to her most recent win over TUF and Bellator vet Katharina Lehner, her other three opponents all had a minimum of six fights on their record, and Dalaslan finished them all.

Needs Improvement

Wrestling Question Marks: As good as Dalaslan is on the feet, there are definite questions about her wrestling abilities. She has not really had to face an opponent known for their wrestling chops, so her defense especially has looked solid. However, as she steps up in competition, that will be further tested, so those questions may be answered.

Outlook

UFC Midcarder: Dalaslan is certainly a talented fighter and I think her striking is going to carry her a long way. She has the talent to make the UFC whenever she’s ready, and I think she will be successful with the organization. She takes on another experienced female in Sobek, and a win her would continue to build her up as a top female prospect in the world.
