Prospect in the Spotlight (Apr 21-22): Adrian Bartosinski

Introduction

Saturday, April 22nd, Polish welterweight prospect Adrian Bartosinski will be in action for KSW, where he will be looking continue his winning ways against Artur Szczepaniak. He will be looking for another win, as Bartosinski looks to score the KSW world title. He represents Octopus Lodz, a smaller camp in MMA. Let’s take a closer look at this prospect as this week’s “Prospect Spotlight.”

Strengths

Submission Wrestling: Like many Polish MMA fighters currently on the scene, Bartosinski is a strong wrestler with good submission skills on the ground. He’s good at gauging distance and calibrating where he can shoot takedowns from. He has a high percentage of getting opponents to the mat. From there, Bartosinski is a terror. He has top notch ground-and-pound between his brutal elbows and punches. He’s also well-versed in submissions, though he has just one tapout as a pro. Most of his submission wins were done while he was an amateur. Engaging in a mat war with Bartosinski is not advised.

Power Game: Bartosinski is a physically dominant fighter known for his strength and power. When he gets his hands on somebody, he’s able to rag doll and bully his opponents. In addition to his power in the grappling power, the power that his strikes generate is impressive as well. He has tremendous stopping power. The powerful Pole is able to consistently finish his fights thanks in big part to his power game.

Needs Improvement

Needs Step Up in Competition: Bartosinski has more recently taken on some better opposition, which explains why he is fighting for the KSW title. However, one could argue that his opponents have not been “UFC level” yet, which would give us better insight into how he will look on the major league level. Granted, his most recent wins have been solid wins, especially his kneebar win over Andrzej Grzebek.

Outlook

UFC Midcarder: Bartosinski has the skill set to make it to the big leagues in the coming time and is a guy that will have success at the next level. Wrestling is key to success in the UFC, something that we’ve mentioned Bartosinski has. First up, though, he has a KSW title fight here, which is a major feat if he’s able to attain it. KSW is one of the top regional companies in the world, with guys like former UFC champ Jan Blachowicz cutting his teeth there. He will probably stick around that company for a while, especially if he has their gold around his waist. However, at some point in the future, he should make the UFC roster and find success.
